Representative Alicea announces state grants totaling $31,500 will go to non-profit cultural groups in the district

Boston-  Representative Alicea (D-Charlton) announced today that grants totaling $31,500 have been awarded to cultural organizations and community groups in his district by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). These grants support a variety of cultural activities that benefit local residents. The announcement was made as a part of a statewide funding program by the MCC.

Local recipients awarded grants include the Charlton Cultural Council ($4,300), East Brookfield Cultural Council ($4,300), Oxford Cultural Council ($6,300), Southbridge Cultural Council ($10,700) and the Spencer Cultural Council ($5,900). 

“I am thrilled that the MCC awarded these grants to support these important cultural organizations and community groups in their work to enrich our lives and improve our communities through arts and culture” said Representative Alicea. 

The Massachusetts Cultural Council is a state agency that promotes excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities, and sciences, in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and contribute to the economic vitality of our communities. The Council pursues its mission through a combination of grants, services and advocacy for nonprofit cultural organizations, schools, communities, and artists.
