Thank you for visiting my new website. It has been my honor to serve the residents of Charlton, East Brookfield, Oxford, Southbridge and Spencer in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for over 4 years. Flickering out: State bans novelty lighters

When Southbridge Firefighter Rob Barton, the father of young twin boys, received a box of about 100 novelty cigarette lighters from the Maine state fire marshal, he was able to find toys in his house that matched 30 of the lighters.

They look like toy cars, cellphones, fire extinguishers, Magic Markers, even doll accessories. One is a model of a Christmas tree, complete with flashing lights and holiday music, and another looks like a rubber ducky and quacks if you squeeze it.

Alicea Op-Ed: Real progress on RMV issue

As the debate around the Registry of Motor Vehicles continues, some remain divided about the Senior Center relocation and the new RMV branch opening. Although all parties won’t likely agree on the final location, I believe it is imperative that state and local officials work together and communicate with the public as progress is made.
